4^th Symposium and Workshop on the Conservation of Saproxylic Beetles

Welcome to the website of the 4^th symposium and workshop on the conservation of saproxylic beetles.

A first Symposium, intitled "Symposium and workshop on saproxylic insects in hollow trees", took place in Sweden in August 1999. Three years later, the "2^nd Symposium and Workshop on the Conservation of Saproxylic Beetles in Ancient Trees" was held in Great Britain in June 2002. The "3^rd Symposium and Workshop on the Conservation of Saproxylic Beetles" took place in Latvia in 2004.

We are pleased to receive you at the website of the "4^th Symposium and Workshop on the Conservation of Saproxylic Beetles" that will take place in the French department of Sarthe, near Le Mans, from the 27^th to the 29^th of June 2006.

After this Symposium, the 5^th Conference on Saproxylic Beetles held in Luneburg, Germany, from the 14^th to the 16^th of June 2008.

Cofiroute is a motorway concessionary company working for the French State. It has been in charge of the construction and exploitation of the A28 motorway crossing the Sarthe department. Within the framework of mitigation measures, Cofiroute has commited itself in a ten-years scientific monitoring on Osmoderma eremita populations and its habitats.
